This is a message to you who come to Japan.

African swine fever, foot and mouth disease, avian influenza and other animal infectious diseases are spreading all over the world.

Bringing meat products into Japan is prohibited.

If you bring meat or animal products, you would be punishable with a custodial sentence of up to 3 years or a fine of up to 3 million yen(up to 50 million yen for business) .

Examples of meat and meat products that cannot be brought in

Raw meat, jerky, dried meat, cured and uncured ham, sausages, salami, cooked meat,, dumplings containing meat, ham sandwiches, hamburgers, meat floss, in-flight meals, etc.
